A Rucio web interface is also available. Unlike the command line interface, this is primarily used to browse datasets with a friendly UI and to initiate large-scale data transfers.
You can access the web interface at rucio-ui.cern.ch.
You will need your grid certificate in a compatible browser to access the UI.
Use the search bar to repeat the search exercises you did using the command line interface:
The web interface accepts wildcards in the search string.
Large-scale data transfers should also be initiated via
the rucio web interface, rather than by using rucio download
.
The transfer interface, known as R2D2,
is here. Take the
tour available at the top of the page.
Transfers performed this way have many convenient features: they are easy to track; the files transferred that way are available to grid jobs on some sites, or for futher transfer; the site admins can easily check which users are using how much space and modify or remove rucio transfer rules; and they can have a lifetime set (e.g. to only retain the data for a few months).
You can find some more tips for where datasets should be replicated on this Twiki. In some cases you will need a site administrator’s approval for the transfer.
